How booking works on Pawprint
Last updated: October 15, 2026
Found someone you’d like to care for your pet? Here’s what happens from your first request through the end of the booking.
1. Choose care and send a request
Browse providers, compare their profiles, packages and prices, and choose the dates and pets for your booking. You can also post a request describing the care you need and review providers’ offers.
Before sending a booking request, check the service details, total price and cancellation deadline. Share care instructions and ask questions in Pawprint messages. Sending a request does not reserve a confirmed booking: the provider still needs to accept.
2. The provider accepts and payment is confirmed
For the saved-card booking flow, you save your card when you request care, and it is charged when the provider accepts. The booking is confirmed only after that payment succeeds. If the charge fails, follow the payment instructions on the booking; don’t assume care is confirmed.
Some booking flows place a temporary card hold when you request care. Check the payment explanation shown for your booking. Our payments guide explains holds and charge timing.
If the provider declines or the request expires without acceptance, you do not pay for the service. Any authorization is released; if a payment was already captured, it is refunded.
3. Before care starts
Use messages to agree on handoff details and your pet’s routine, feeding, medication instructions and any concerns. Keep the booking details up to date. If your plans change, check cancellations and changes before cancelling or asking for a new time.
4. During care
Your provider can check in and share photos through Pawprint. For dog walks, Pawprint supports live route tracking and a recap after the walk. Ask your provider which updates they’ll send; these tools do not mean Pawprint supervises the care.
Keep in touch through the booking’s conversation. If something goes wrong, message the provider and contact support. Once care is in progress, owners cannot use the normal cancellation action.
5. After the booking
After a qualifying completed booking, you can leave a review of the provider. You can also choose to add a tip after a completed paid service.
If the service was not provided as agreed, open the completed booking’s dispute option promptly. The usual window is 24 hours, or 48 hours for an automatically completed booking, measured from the later of completion and the scheduled end date. See how disputes work.
Completed-service payouts are released after the applicable dispute window; a dispute or payout hold can delay release. A charge on your card and a payout to your provider happen at different stages.
Common questions
Is my booking confirmed as soon as I request it?
No. The provider needs to accept. In the saved-card flow, the booking is confirmed after the acceptance payment succeeds. Check the booking status before making plans around the care.
Can I ask questions before booking?
Yes. Use Pawprint messaging to discuss your pet’s needs and the service before sending a request. Read Trust and safety on Pawprint for what verification and reviews can tell you.
What if my provider declines?
You do not pay for the service. Any card authorization is released, and a captured payment is refunded. You can then look for another provider or post a new request.
